Read the Series First

First of all, this is an amazing book series!  The author, Lemony Snicket, narrates the story.  It's weird to read at first, because the author keeps encouraging you to look away... but don't do it!!  Keep reading!  The series is dark and dreary, but that's the appeal of it. :)  Stick with it... You will be glad you did!

So before you even watch the series on Netflix, come to the library, pick up a book, and read it. :)

Secondly, Netflix and actor Neil Patrick Harris got it right with this Netflix original series based on the children's book series.  The first season (available on Netflix now) is based on the first four books of A Series of Unfortunate Events.  My family and I watched it this weekend, and we LOVED it! :)

Here is the rating from Common Sense Media.  They say it's rated for ages 10+, but I personally think it could be comfortably rated 8+... maybe even younger.
