Animal Hibernation

1st Grade learns all about Animal Hibernation!

Our sweet firsties have been learning all about animal hibernation!  Thanks to our library's flexible schedule, we were able to make a total of five consecutive trips to the library, as well as work on our projects in the classroom with the classroom teacher.

First, we worked to learn all about hibernation using this graphic organizer.  The kids were excited to use at least two sources (one book and one internet resource).  Most students were even great at citing their resource on their paper and in their presentation!  Way to go!

Next, our students used their graphic organizers and their iPads to create their presentations using an app called ShadowPuppet Edu.  We wanted a seamless, free app that we could use many times in our classroom, and we thought ShadowPuppet Edu was awesome!  We discovered that when videos are finalized, the app send them straight to the CameraRoll for easy sharing.

Here are a few of our finished projects.  If your child completed one of these, ask them to share with you!  They worked very hard to make them awesome!
